Space gray fever is real, and at 500 dollars a clean used iMac Pro is tempting. Here is the sober checklist. The panel is still one of the nicest screens ever shipped. The Xeon inside loses to a base Mac mini while drawing five times the power, the SSDs are custom parts that are expensive to replace, and the machine has aged out of new macOS releases. As a gorgeous second screen machine for email, reference footage, and music, it earns its price. As a primary work computer in 2026, it is a bad contract with your own future.
