#Building the 2026 iMac Pro
Two boxes replace one, and the math works out better than you would guess.
Mac Studio M4 Max $1,999
The performance floor of the pro lineup, and a comfortable one: 14 CPU cores, 36GB of unified memory, and enough GPU to cut 8K footage without proxies. It is faster than every iMac Pro configuration ever sold, in a box the size of a lunch tin that you will never hear spin up.
CPU: 14 core M4 Max · RAM: 36GB · Storage: 512GB · Ports: 6 Thunderbolt

Studio Display $1,599
Functionally the top half of an iMac Pro sold separately: the same class of 27 inch 5K panel, plus a 12MP camera, studio mics, and a six speaker array. Pair it with the nano-texture glass option if your office fights window glare all afternoon.
The honest alternative
A 400 dollar 4K monitor gives up the perfect macOS text rendering and the camera, and keeps 1,200 dollars in your pocket. Color critical work justifies the Apple panel. Spreadsheets do not.
Panel: 27 inch 5K · Brightness: 600 nits · Camera: 12MP Center Stage
Mac Studio M3 Ultra $3,999
The ceiling. Two Max chips fused together, up to 512GB of unified memory, and local AI model performance that embarrasses GPU towers costing more. Buffalo buyers at this tier are usually running film color pipelines or training models, and they already know who they are.
CPU: 28 core M3 Ultra · RAM: 96 to 512GB · GPU: 60 core and up
